Do you know how many times I’ve heard, “Do not bring home any doors!” I guess I’ve reached my capacity of barn sales, according to Andrew. But, I disagree. I need more. I have this obsession with barns and old stuff, I love the ladders and lofts. I love the peaked roof and all the windows. The cavernous space of a huge old stone and wood barn makes you feel so small and humble. What kind of hard work and farm hands have seen those walls, the love and dedication to run that farm, and build that barn. All the wood and beams! Oh, the beams! My heart goes pitter pat.
There is a local barn that’s open randomly for sales (if you’re local to my area of southeastern Pennsylvania, it’s called Smithfield Barn), and they put much of their goods on their Facebook page, so you can see what’s ripe for picking before you venture over or you can even hold items. The weekend I went, I saw a handful of orchard ladders for sale outside, as well as these glorious red-rimmed enamel basins.

S O L D !
I have no idea where exactly to put the basins – probably hang them on a wall in my hallway with my still-not-completed laundry staging area I told you about with the basket and FB Live @ Target trip.
The wear on these, though!
This orchard ladder is going in my bedroom and will hold this antique pineapple crochet coverlet.
My mom-mom made it for my mom’s bed when she was a kid. There’s also a matching coverlet and a table cloth floating around somewhere.
Isn’t it just perfection?
I’m dying to know where this ladder is from, and what was painted with it! I wish all this stuff came with a great story on a tag, don’t you?
